Why Heat Pumps?

Heat Pumps are becoming increasingly popular, due to their very low carbon footprint, compared to other heating solutions.

Installed under the right circumstances, heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat your home.

The Irish building regs are rapidly changing to incorporate green energy and make it a viable option to more people. The SEAI have substantially increased the grants for heat pumps in recent months, to make this technology more affordable to everyone.

Why Heat Pumps?

Under the current grand scheme, houses rated BER B2 and up are entitled to grants up to 6500 euros for houses and 4500 euros for apartments.

Is your current BER lower than B2? One of our PV-Powered Heat Pump solutions would be a great and viable option for you!

Heat Pump FAQ

In short: Like a fridge or an AC, but in reverse!

A typical air source heat pump works by extracting heat energy from large amounts of ambient air. It does this, by using a refrigerant / coolant to move heat from one location to another. In order to achieve a higher temperature than the temperature of the ambient source that provided the energy in the first place, the refrigerant needs to be compressed.

Compressing the refrigerant significantly increases its temperature, as the energy collected can no longer escape through evaporation. The now compressed and hot coolant is being send through a coil on the inside of your house, where it’s energy can be transferred directly to air or water.

Accurately sizing a heat pump for your home is crucial; oversizing a heat pump can lead to higher running costs and undersizing a heat pump can leave your house under heated.

Heat pumps have an average Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 4. This means, that for every kW of energy you put into the system, you generate up to 4kW of heat energy. Pretty amazing, right?

In comparison, some of the most high-efficient oil and gas boilers on the market barely manage an efficiency of 92%, compared to a heat pumps efficiency of 300%.

100% they do, especially when combined with micro-generation-systems such as PV-Solar panels which produce carbon-free energy.

Every house is designed differently, meaning that every installation might come with different challenges. On average, a full installation takes between 1-3 days.

Yes and no. A heat pump should and will work in any home, as long as the insulation is adequate. (A well insulated home is the key to lower running cost and a higher COP)

It is important that you get an independent overview, what changes are required within your property to ensure a heat pump runs efficiently and cost effective.

Yes, in fact – they work better that way! Whether you want to generate your electricity via PV-Solar Panels, harvest the power of wind or even just feed warm water from thermodynamic heating solar panels into your system, the result will always be a more efficient heating system!

Since the beginning of time, we have lit fires to keep warm, it doesn't have to be that way!

WHY WAIT?

The green energy revolution has already begun!

Unmatched Efficiency

With COP-Ratings up to 4, heat pumps can turn 1kW of electricity into up to 4kW of heat energy. Pretty neat, right?

The Future is now

Due to heavy advances in heat pump as well as insulation technology, we are, for the first time ever, able to harvest existing free ambient energy at a lower cost, whether it be in the air, the ground or water.

Go greener

Already sporting an extremely low carbon foot print, heat pumps can be combined with solar technology to reduce it’s Co2-Emissions to 0!
